Michael H. Sampson, Esq. is Senior Director of Legal Affairs and Risk Management. Mike provides legal and risk management counsel to Symphony and leads Symphony Solve.
Mike has had an extensive legal career. For many years, he was as a partner at Reed Smith LLP where he built and led their cannabis practice and was a member of their Insurance Recovery Group. Mike also served as Assistant Director of the Anti-Defamation League’s Legal Affairs Department. As counsel for policyholders, Mike regularly assisted clients of all sizes across diverse industries with a myriad of complicated legal matters, including policy review, claims handling, dispute resolution, breach-of-contract, and bad-faith litigation. As an expert in legal issues associated with cannabis businesses, Mike routinely counseled plant-touching, non-plant-touching, and ancillary businesses operating in or adjacent to the cannabis industry. In particular, Mike developed a unique practice advising cannabis-related businesses about insurance coverage and risk management concerns.
Mike is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New York, and DC, as well as in various federal courts across the country. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Mike received a Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts with High Distinction in Government from the University of Virginia.
