Catherine Lyons
Principal, Symphony Specialty
Catherine Lyons is a Principal in Symphony Specialty, where her primary focus is leading the private, non-profit, and public company Executive Risk placement and advisory team. She specializes in Executive Risk products and has a background working as a broker, underwriter, and paralegal.
Prior to joining Symphony, Catherine led two of Bolton Street’s Programs, The Van Wagner Group and Social Services, in addition to leading the AIS team, the wholesale arm for Programs. From 2020 to 2025, she worked as an underwriting specialist on Allianz’s public D&O team, underwriting Allianz’s largest public company accounts, and previously served as a senior underwriter on AIG’s PNP D&O team. Earlier in her career, Catherine worked as a litigation paralegal, spending more than seven years at Rivkin Radler, a law firm known for its defense of insurance carriers, and headed the discovery department at Siben & Siben from 2004 to 2007.
Catherine earned her MBA with a concentration in Enterprise Risk Management from St. John’s University. She also completed her undergraduate degree in business law at St. John’s in 2016 with a 3.98 GPA, which led to an academic GA position for graduate school. As a GA, she worked under Dr. Paul Walker, Executive Director for the Center of Excellence in Enterprise Risk Management and a member of the COSO ERM Advisory Council.
